PERMITS
.......................................................................
Why do
you need a sign permit?
The purpose of a sign
permit is to ensure that the size, color and location of
the sign comply with the City's Zoning Ordinance. A sign
permit for permanent & temporary signs are required
before any fabrication or installation is done in any
county. This requirement applies to all types of
signs, including free standing, wall-mounted, marquee
signs, and banners. Illuminated signs require sign,
electrical, and building permits.
What
is the process?
Sign permit
applications are reviewed by the zoning staff of the
county or city that your business is located in. This
review could take approximately between two days to six
weeks, depending on the county or city regulations and
process. After staff approval, a sign permit is
issued along with a sign tag which is to be attached to
the sign itself. For most zoning offices the following
information is necessary to process the permit
application:
- A sign permit
application
- A building permit
application
- An Electrical
application signed by a master electrician
- location of the sign
on the property or building (site plan required)
- 3 copies of the sign
drawing showing the size (area) and dimension of the
sign
- photographs of the
property indicating where the sign is to be located.
Permit
fees?
The sign permit fees
range from $40.00 to $200.00. An additional fee
for electrical- permits is required that is
approximately between $200.00 to 350.00 for illuminated
signs.
